Which barcode formats does this generator support?

What's the difference between EAN-13 and UPC-A?

EAN-13 (European Article Number) is 13 digits and is the global standard used everywhere outside North America. UPC-A (Universal Product Code) is 12 digits and is the primary format for retail products in the US and Canada. Modern scanners read both interchangeably.

Can I use these barcodes commercially?

Yes — the barcodes you generate are yours to use for any purpose, including commercial products. However, if you're selling to major retailers, you'll need officially registered EAN/UPC numbers from GS1 (the international standards body) so the codes are recognized globally. This tool renders the barcode graphic; it doesn't register the code.

Are these free barcodes scannable?

Yes, they follow standard specifications and will scan correctly with any modern barcode reader or smartphone app. For best results, download as SVG if you're printing at large sizes, and ensure the printed barcode is at least 25mm (1 inch) wide with high contrast.

What's the difference between a barcode and a QR code?
